One thing to OSGi, actually I thought it would be the right way to build modular apps (Spring DM). I wrote an article about Spring DM in 2009: https://jaxenter.de/osgi-mit-spring-dm-8971

... but I think OSGi is for a lot of devs too complex. Just like today with Java Modules.
